The Grand Rapids Clean Indoor Air Ordinance
In October 2006, the Grand Rapids City Commission passed the "Clean Indoor Air Ordinance", joining 15 counties and 2 cities in Michigan, 14 States in the U.S., over 1,000 U.S. municipalities and 12 countries worldwide. This ordinance will create safer, healthier public environments and may decrease direct health care and insurance costs for employees.
Secondhand smoke is the 2nd leading cause of preventable death in Michigan. This ordinance will reduce exposure of our citizens and workers to the harmful effects of secondhand smoke.
